Black Dahlia Murder sealed the deal with Max Lavelle and made him the band’s full time bassist. The band made the announcement Fridat night during its set @moshfest. Lavelle hails from the Masshole ranks having played in Burn in Silence and Goratory. He also did a stint with Despised Icon. Good pick, BDM
Soooooo I’m not too sure how I feel about this. Apparently Max has been playing with TBDM for months and on Friday evening the band announced, as seen in the above video, that he will be part of the band full time. I had no clue that Bart was even considering leaving the band, let alone it happening and then getting a new bassist already. My concern is how the next album will sound, as Ryan Knight’s influence on Deflorate left something to be desired, and the riffing on Ritual does not even compare to their earlier stuff. Don’t get me wrong, the music is still amazing. I just wish I knew who wrote what parts because it irks me that they have these lineup changes every so often but I can’t figure out if it’s for better or for worse. The one comforting factor is that Max plays a ZON bass, which is the same company Bart used.
If you compared them with Job For A Cowboy they’re in great shape. JFAC has had so fucking many lineup changes while being a band for half as long, but the thing is JFAC sounds better and better each time. Each album trumps the previous and even with a constantly changing lineup they’re able to pull together great musicians to go with Jonny Davy’s distinct voice.
The Black Dahlia Murder and Exhumed to go on a North American tour (mostly Canada)
Sweet, Exhumed is back on the road and they’re hitching up with TBDM. Good… good.. are they coming near me? Not even close.

Music video trailer for Moonlight Equilibrium by The Black Dahlia Murder
Honestly, I fucking hate the idiots who think releasing a trailer for a music video is a good idea. I can’t remember what song it was, but there were I think 6 or 7 trailers for this one music video by Sonic Syndicate and the final result fucking sucked ass anyways. They lost a TON of respect and fans after that bullshit. That band died anyways.
At least TBDM is fucking awesome and this video seems like it’ll be entertaining. I hope it has that TBDM style, kind of like Necropolis.
And the best metal show of the year will be in… Cincinnati, Ohio
Someone had given me the heads up on tour dates for the 2012 Torture Tour (tour dates can be found here) and I would like to bring some real recognition to the April 14th date in Cincinatti, Ohio.
If you are within a reasonable driving distance it is very likely that this will be THE #1 show of the year. Why? It’s one of 2 dates on the Torture Tour that is in combination with another tour as well. Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik will be teaming up with The Black Dahlia Murder, Skeletonwitch, Nile, and Hour of Penance by doing a joint show. Seriously, America will not have a more brutal show in 2012. It’s not really possible unless some of these bands get together again in combination with another tour, because this much metal never tours together unless it’s for a huge tour such as Summer Slaughter (which has CC, BTBAM, and The Faceless confirmed so far).
The Black Dahlia Murder, Skeletonwitch, Nile, and Hour of Penance announce US tour dates
Yeah, TBDM and Skeletonwitch isn’t just a UK tour most likely because of the reaction from the fans. This will be the #1 tour of the year and it’s not gonna hit many places, in my opinion. What blows the most is the only show in Ohio doesn’t have Skeletonwitch, Nile, or Hour of Penance.
European people don’t worry, you guys still get TBDM and Skeletonwitch.
Feb 7 Update: Turns out that they will be doing a joint show in conjunction with the 2012 Torture Tour, showcasing not only this lineup but also Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik. \m/
The Black Dahlia Murder back on tour this fall with All Shall Perish and Cannabis Corpse
Hahaha, you have to be shitting me. I mean, I have seen TBDM everytime they came through the past 4 years, but now they’re doubling up on me. I actually saw them on Sunday but didn’t post pictures yet. I got to see All Shall Perish back in February with Kataklysm, and then again last week with Unearth and Suicide Silence. I guess I get to see them both again in October. What will really be fun is getting to see Cannabis Corpse. Now that’s a goofy ass band, but they’re good. If you don’t know them they are a band based off of Cannibal Corpse except instead of singing about zombies they sing about smoking weed.
I can’t believe they are headlining ANOTHER tour already. I mean, they are pumping out an album every 2 years, and the entire time inbetween is spent doing tours, which is typically 2 North American and 2 European tours. They fucking wrote Ritual while on the road, toured Europe, came home, released it, then went on Summer Slaughter. Soon as Summer Slaughter is over they’re just going to do another damn headliner.
The best thing is that this tour is going to try to hit a lot of places that Summer Slaughter couldn’t reach. So if you missed TBDM the first time, now’s your chance.
TOUR DATES (as of 8/10):
10/6: Columbus, OH @ The Bluestone (scaled) 10/7: Pittsburgh, PA @ Mr. Smalls 10/8: TBD 10/9: Syracuse, NY @ Lost Horizon 10/10 Providence, RI @ The Met 10/11: TBD 10/13: Richmond, VA @ Canal Club 10/14: Wilmington, NC @ The Soapbox 10/15: TBD 10/17 Corpus Christi, TX @ House of Rock 10/18: TBD 10/19: Lubbock, TX @ Jakes 10/20: El Paso, TX @ Club 101 10/21: Flagstaff, AZ @ Orpheum Theatre 10/22: Tucson, AZ @ The Rock 10/23: Farmington, NM @ Top Deck 10/25: Oklahoma City, OK @ Conservatory 10/26: Lawrence, KS @ Granada Theatre 10/27: Des Moines, IA @ The Wheelhouse 10/28: Omaha, NE @ Waiting Room 10/30: Lansing, MI @ The Loft
Giving this the first time listen, I have to say this is unlike anything they have ever done. Outside of intros like Built for Sin you would never hear something like this from them. The middle of the song is quite unique and has a strange atmospheric setting. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album, and I can’t wait for a goddamn paycheck so I can preorder my badass TBDM package with all sorts of cool shit.
“It brings us great pleasure to reveal another track from our latest endeavor, Ritual! Conspiring with the Damned is a quick melodic track about bringing a curse into your life by messing with an Ouija board. The lyrics were informed by a series of stories told to me by a friend who claims to have been tormented and robbed of his innocence at a very young age by a demonic force he had been in contact with. This is one of my favorite tracks from the album, and I think it embodies the horrific vibe of Ritual perfectly. Bang your heads!”
How stoked are you for The Black Dahlia Murder's new album?
There is no measurable amount of stokedness that you could use to describe just exactly how stoked I am. I more or less worship TBDM for many reasons. I’ve seen them every time they came through my area the past few years. I’ve been lucky to catch each of them individually and had some personal conversations with them, mostly Trevor, though.
The album itself is fucking batshit incredible based on what I have heard from Amazon. Out of the 12 songs on there only 1 is more of an interlude than a song. Ryan Knight’s touch on the solos is such a great thing to have, and their tone is even more crazy now that they’ve gone from Mesa amps to 6505+. They had the 6505 for Deflorate but their tone was tweaked and tightened for this album.
What’s also cool is how they have an actual concept for the album, which is rituals. Trevor stated how it’s the first album they’ve done that had a concept, and all the songs revolve around black magic, talking to the dead, etc. I think it’s pretty cool considering I have a ritual of my own. Any concert or show I go to is always pregamed via a 4 Loko (or as of the past few months, Crunk Juice because it tastes a bit better). It’s a great $1.99 method to get rowdy and rage hard.
When Summer Slaughter comes I will probably explode from awesomeness. Luckily it’s on a Sunday when it comes through where I live so I won’t have any issues with work! \m/
edit: hahaha, you actually cannot preview the songs anymore on Amazon! I had made a post about a week ago when Amazon unveiled the MP3 album and you could preview all the songs, but if you notice, they removed the preview feature. I wonder if Metal Blade was a bit salty about that! http://www.its-metal.com/post/5316108178/sample-songs-from-ritual-amazon-has-the-songs
edit2: Thanks to the internet, you can still find the 29 second samples that Amazon had.
Sample songs from Ritual
Amazon has the songs available for preview. Mmmm..
You probably first saw it here at It’s Metal. This is the first officially released song from their new album, Ritual.
Additionally, here are the lyrics!
The Black Dahlia Murder - Ritual (2011)
FUUUUUUUUUU YESSSS!!! I’ve been waiting a long motherfucking time for this (technically since Deflorate came out in 2009)! When I talked to Trevor back in October he told me they were hitting up the studio in early 2011 and dropping the album sometime in the middle of 2011. Well, he didn’t lie! This is the album art that was just released. Here’s a little bit that Trevor mentioned about the new album ““Everyone has an association with some kind of ritual, so we just thought it was the next logical step.”
1. A Shrine To Madness 2. Moonlight Equilibrium 3. On Stirring Seas Of Salted Blood 4. Conspiring With The Damned 5. The Window 6. Carbonized In Cruciform 7. Den Of The Picquerist 8. Malenchanments Of The Necrosphere 9. The Grave Robber’s Work 10. The Raven 11. Great Burning Nullifier 12. Blood In The Ink
Note: Hey, reblog this shit and tell your friends!
Grats Within The Ruins!
Within The Ruins won the voting for the final spot in the 2011 Summer Slaughter tour. Take it for what it is! I like Within The Ruins so I’m not mad, granted I voted for Conducting From The Grave (twice) and Revocation. If you want to check the official results you can find them on www.indiemerchstore.com or just click here: http://pad.indiemerch.com/b/ss2011-votes.pdf. You can use control+F to search for your name if you voted, which is how I found out I managed to vote twice lol.

I regret not wearing a diaper when I saw this because I definitely shit myself
For all things including, but not necessarily limited to, music, various types of metal, and things that are just fucking metal.
Bands such as Sevendust, Disturbed, or Linkin Park will not be featured. This is fucking metal.
I'll link you to where you can buy these albums! Support what you love. Additionally, click on the pics for high-resolution versions of all these images! Going for quality so you can increase your metal library and have good album art (or a new wallpaper).
NOTE: I tediously tag basically every post. Click on them if they're of interest. I link all bands together, and I tag the various genres of music for each post. Granted I don't try to post only the same stuff, but rather post many different bands, you should click a tag to find more of that band or style of music.
