Nile - At The Gate of Sethu (2012)
The reigning king of technical, historically-themed brutality, Nile, has announced a July 3rd release date for its upcoming studio album, At The Gate Of Sethu. The follow-up to Nile’s latest state-of-the-death-metal-art release, Those Whom the Gods Detest (2009), will once again be released via Nuclear Blast Records. Neil Kernon (Cannibal Corpse, Macabre) handled production duties for Nile’s seventh full-length.
Time for another brick-shittingly good time with Nile. I’m sure it’ll be better than Ithyphallic, but I wonder if it’ll be able to top Those Whom The Gods Detest. Comes out June 26 in Europe and July 3 in the US.
Nile - Worship The Animal (2011/1994)
Well this is a neat treat to come across. This album is actually available to listen to on Spotify, so if you have spotify just click on this link and you can start listening to it. These songs are called “lost tracks” since they weren’t released on anything apparently, which I’m not entire sure about considering Youtube has old recordings of these songs on some sort of mixtape. Luckily everything is remastered and sounds awesome. It’s not weird Egyptian ambient bullshit either. It’s 5 legit songs. They’re MUCH slower than the Nile you’re probably used to though. Seems like they were trying for more of a groovy thing, but god damn Worship The Animal is a fucking HEAVY song. Like heavy as a heavy thing. I guess a cool bonus is that it’s done with the original lineup, so that’s Karl Sanders you hear doing most of the vocals. Check it out!
And the best metal show of the year will be in… Cincinnati, Ohio
Someone had given me the heads up on tour dates for the 2012 Torture Tour (tour dates can be found here) and I would like to bring some real recognition to the April 14th date in Cincinatti, Ohio.
If you are within a reasonable driving distance it is very likely that this will be THE #1 show of the year. Why? It’s one of 2 dates on the Torture Tour that is in combination with another tour as well. Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik will be teaming up with The Black Dahlia Murder, Skeletonwitch, Nile, and Hour of Penance by doing a joint show. Seriously, America will not have a more brutal show in 2012. It’s not really possible unless some of these bands get together again in combination with another tour, because this much metal never tours together unless it’s for a huge tour such as Summer Slaughter (which has CC, BTBAM, and The Faceless confirmed so far).
The Black Dahlia Murder, Skeletonwitch, Nile, and Hour of Penance announce US tour dates
Yeah, TBDM and Skeletonwitch isn’t just a UK tour most likely because of the reaction from the fans. This will be the #1 tour of the year and it’s not gonna hit many places, in my opinion. What blows the most is the only show in Ohio doesn’t have Skeletonwitch, Nile, or Hour of Penance.
European people don’t worry, you guys still get TBDM and Skeletonwitch.
Feb 7 Update: Turns out that they will be doing a joint show in conjunction with the 2012 Torture Tour, showcasing not only this lineup but also Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik. \m/
ENJOY NILE WITH ME
I like drinking booze and listening to death metal. What humors me right now is I’m wearing some pretty fucking nice clothes because I was at a high class restaurant and I’m just at home coming up with some riffs on my guitar. Nile makes everything better.
Also hit a pinch harmonic on the 1st string 12th fret that made my right ear start ringing. No good.

Hell yes. As you all know, Nile is awesome. As a lot of you might not have known, their drummer plays every goddamn instrument.

Hmm, well hot damn! Who’d have thought he also plays keyboards along with the regular guitar, bass, and drums. This should be pretty cool to listen to. Granted he’s only been with Nile since 2004 he’s still a beast. If you’re curious, he would be the drummer for Annihilation of the Wicked, Ithyphallic, and Those Whom the Gods Detest. The album is expected to drop later this year in September.

Karl Sanders’ new guitar
I mean, obviously it’s not complete, yet, but when it will I’m sure it’ll be incredible. He’s working with Dean to create another custom masterpiece, and he deserves it. This is what it currently looks like as of today. As you can see, it’s going to be a 7 string guitar, which makes sense considering Nile typically plays in drop A tuning and that’s easily done on a 7 string. He probably went this route because the string setup he has is brutal since he uses a custom .11-.70 gauge setup. That probably warped the fuck out of the neck on his guitar. It’s been clamped for several hours and is lookin pretty sharp. Can’t wait to see the final product, and I especially can’t wait to hear that thing on a new album! In fact, I want to hear news of them writing new material soon.
