An update on Jeff Hanneman, guitarist of Slayer →
Slayer fans everywhere - it’s time to let you know what is going on with our brother Jeff Hanneman. As you know, Jeff was bitten by a spider more than a year ago, but what you may not have known was that for a couple of days after he went to the ER, things were touch-and-go. There was talk that he might have to have his arm amputated, and we didn’t know if he was going to pull...

Now THIS is awesome.  It’s just a small clip from what seems to be the 2010 Mayhem Festival with Cannibal Corpse playing.  There is a handicapped person in an electric wheelchair in a mosh pit.  I think he’s seriously redefining the term “circle pit.” Please, find ANY other genre of music where someone with a disability like this man can have this much fun.

Anonymous asked: Did you realize (in your blog about Max being announced as the permanent bassist of TBDM) that when you put JFAC as an example of a band constantly changing line ups, Alan from JFAC and Max were both in Goratory and Burn In Silence together?

samclennan: Black Dahlia Murder sealed the deal with Max Lavelle and made him the band’s full time bassist. The band made the announcement Fridat night during its set @moshfest. Lavelle hails from the Masshole ranks having played in Burn in Silence and Goratory.  He also did a stint with Despised Icon. Good pick, BDM Soooooo I’m not too sure how I feel about this.  Apparently Max has been...

Badass death metal
Haha badass death metal doesn’t need to be a subgenre; any metal fans can differentiate badass death metal from sucky death metal! It can reflect any subgenre of death metal. But I know what you mean. Job For A Cowboy has definitely evolved, but they still hold some of the same elements going as far back as Doom. Obviously Davy’s distinguished vocals are key when listening. And since...

I hate getting bad news...
Man this really made me sad.  I was so pumped to go to Paganfest tonight and saw on Facebook that Ex-Deo was doing a show in Cleveland.  I gave a small holler to Maurizio (singer for Ex-Deo and Kataklysm) and this is his response. :(

So this guy put his camera inside of his 12 string acoustic guitar.  It’s not metal, but it’s pretty fucking badass.

Voting for the opening spot in the 2012 Summer...
https://www.facebook.com/SummerSlaughterTour?v=app_20678178440 If I were you I would vote for Aegaeon.  Yes I may be mildly biased due to having a tie with the singer, but they’re actually good.  I recognize every band on that list except one (Vildhjarta) and they’re almost all signed to pretty fucking big labels.  Aegaeon has no label and has gotten this far on their own.  I’m...
